Popular Argentine Orlando ‘Orly’ Terranova may be just 35 years old but he’s got a list of honours as long as your arm and it’s only going to keep growing.
The Mendoza-born racer began racing back in ’97 when he picked up an Enduro bike and he took to it instantly – racking up a string of victories including four national titles and a podium finish in the notoriously tough Latin American Enduro Championship.
It was eight years on from his debut that Orly first decided to take on the Dakar Rally but he struggled to find the machinery to match his immense talent – failing to finish five times from his first seven attempts.
Fast forward to 2015 and Orly is now a Dakar veteran and although he finished down the field this year he won five stages. Troubles with his car in Stage Four meant his chances of overall victory were dashed but he proved that he’s got all the skills to eventually top the podium in Motorsport’s toughest race.
