As freeskiing moves more into the mainstream, the sport needs to hold on to some of the values that made it popular and resonant with a new generation of skiers. As competitors become more homogenized, cranking out practice runs and triple flips like they are training under Chairman Mao, Alex Schlopy sets himself apart. Insanely talented and fearless, Schlopy doesn`t bother with trivial things like practice and repetition, he believes in his abilities. He doesn`t cover up athletic shortcomings with media exposure overcompensation, he lets his god-given talent do the talking. Tricks like his double cork 1620s and attempted triple cork 1980s continue to keep Alex at the upper echelon of the sport. He`s young, brash and explosive, and has the ability to take over any slopestyle or big air contest.
