French National Championships. A powerful racer with enough nerve to carry speed on a bicycle where usually only skiers dare, Jonnier, who rides for Maxxis and Rocky Mountain, received much of the inspiration to become a champion from her mother – telling the story of when she was six-year-old and racing BMX and asked her mother “Do I have to win today?” To which her mother replied: “You always have to win.” With four World Cup women’s title Jonnier is second and just one title behind the woman considered by many to be the greatest women’s WC MTB DH racer of all time, fellow French country woman Anne-Caroline Chausson. Jonnier’s still very young (28) by mountain bike racing standards and, when on top of her game, is very difficult to beat on the women’s circuit.
