Derek “Buttsy” Butler first started his drifting career on the streets of Ireland about 9 years ago in his AE86 Toyota Corolla. Buttsy became known quickly for his driving skills and was asked to become part of one of Irelands first drift display teams. This team was called Opposite Lock and with this he took part in many shows and festivals all over Ireland, parts of Scotland and the UK.

 

He was also on board to help create the Prodrift Series and brand in Europe. Buttsy has helped with organising many events and demonstrations in which Prodrift have taken part in all over Europe but he decided in 2007 that he wanted to drive again so took a step back from the organisational side of things. He was also a Judge for the Norwegian Powerdrift series in 2008 and 2009

 

Once back in the driving seat again he got sponsored by Monster Energy in 2009 and set up a drift display team, Team Triple Black. He is also a frequent driver in the World famous Gumball 3000 having done it three times now in 2009, 2010 and 2011 with other Monster Athletes such as Danny Kaas, Paul Thacker, Dave Mirra and Kyle Loza. Being from Ireland, of course Buttsy loves the party side to Monster so make sure you keep an eye out for him at our events and parties!
