Tomasz Gollob (born on April 11th, 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is the best Polish speedway rider ever. As the second Pole in history, Gollob became speedway World Champion in 2010. For over 15 years he has been competing with world’s top speedway riders in the Speedway Grand Prix series and won 21 SGP tournaments so far. Gollob is the captain of the Polish national speedway team and has led Poland to a victory in Speedway World Cup six times.

Gollob comes from Bydgoszcz where he started his speedway career (league match debut in 1988) and then spent many years at the local speedway track. Racing for Polonia Bydgoszcz he has won the Polish league six times. In 2004 Gollob moved to Tarnów and then after four seasons he switched his club for Stal Gorzów where he has been racing since 2008. In the meanwhile Gollob has become the Polish Champ eight times.

Gollob has almost met with death a couple of times. In 1999 he suffered a terrible crash at the track in Wrocław which resulted in losing a tip of one of his fingers. In 2007, on the way to a speedway meeting in Tarnów, Gollob survived a plane crash. He escaped with cuts and bruises after pulling his father, mechanic and team mate from the wreckage.

He is considered one of the most entertaining speedway riders ever. At the age of 41 Gollob is still fighting for the championship titles at the Polish and international level.
