Scoring a hit with your first single is an impressive way to break into the music world, which is exactly how Cavo began. The band’s propulsive first single “Champagne” quickly burned up the rock radio charts, reaching No. 1 on both Mainstream and Active Rock charts. The song, however, is only a hint of what to expect from this St. Louis quartet, who recently released their major-label debut album called Bright Nights Dark Days. With songs such as “Champagne,” their newly released second single “Crash,“ (currently impacting Alternative, Mainstream and Active rock stations across the country), the uplifting power ballad “Let It Go,” (also featured on this summer’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack), the blistering “Cry Wolf,” and the strutting “Blame,” the album is a passionately played collection of hard-hitting rock and roll and keenly felt lyrics.

“I think it’s amazing when a songwriter can open up a piece of themselves and let the whole world see it,” says frontman Casey Walker, who writes Cavo’s lyrics. “It may not be beautiful, in fact it may be really ugly, but great art comes from an honest place. It has to. And that’s what we try to do with our songs.”

Though Walker formed Cavo with guitarist Chris Hobbs and drummer Chad La Roy in March 2001, the current line-up solidified after bassist Brian Smith came onboard following the independent release of their debut, The Painful Art of Letting Go, in September 2006. The addition of Smith helped shape the sound of Bright Nights Dark Days, which was produced by David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus). Bendeth caught Cavo at a live showcase in New York City and told the band he wanted to help them make a great album that could stand the test of time. Excited to do just that, Cavo signed with Reprise Records, releasing Bright Nights Dark Days on August 11th, 2009.
