About Rick

“I’ve always felt like I’ve never really “made it” and that there is always something more out there, you know?” Do a Google search on 38 year-old Rick Thorne and what will come up is the alphabet soup description “Action Sports Professional BMX rider/Actor/TV Host/Radio Host/On-Site Host/Musician.” Forever out working his high performance drama/two-wheel high wire act and working the crowd at whatever gig he may be working or competing in, to the millions of kids that see him on TV or on the radio or in countless magazines, Rick Thorne has certainly “made it.” And while yes he has “made it”, he did it the hard way: he earned it. Born into and raised in a broken family in Kansas City, Thorne overcame bad influences and dangerously low self esteem by taking to his bicycle and pedaling away the anger, fear and frustration to become a beloved figure in alternative sorts equal pats showman and BMX flying ace.

So just how does the renaissance man of action sports perceive and describe the juggling act/talent show that is his life? “To say I’m an entertainer is too generic a term,” he declares. “But I have always carried a theme: I’ve gotten real far because I really care about what I do.”
