Joan “Nani” Roma

There aren’t many racers who know the Dakar Rally as well as Nani Roma, a man who has competed in 16 of them over both two and four wheels. The popular Spaniard is one of the most fearsome competitors in off-road racing and already has one Dakar victory to his name - in the motorbike category in 2004.

After forging a successful career on two wheels, including a win in the 1993 European Enduro championship and heaps of podiums in global Baja events, Nani decided to jump in a car and try to replicate his success on four wheels.

Along with co-driver Michel Périn - who has three Dakar victories to his name - they set about building a strong partnership and they’ve done just that. Nani’s best results to date have come in 2013 where he came in with victories in the Hungarian Baja, Desafio Ruta 40, Baja Spain and Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge - all that after grabbing silver at the 2013 Dakar.

He’s one of the most talented and likeable drivers on the circuit and is determined to go one better in the 2014 Dakar, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Nani take his MINI ALL4 Racing to victory.
