Darcy Ward is the brightest talent speedway has seen for decades, and some would say he is the most naturally talented guy to ever ride the 500cc, no brakes, no gears machine. The Queenslander has already lifted the World Under-21 Championship twice, winning it when he was 18 in 2009 and then again in 2010, confirming his status as the most exciting youngster in the sport. If that wasn¹t enough, Darcy hit the podium in his only ever GP appearance to date in Poland last year, and was offered a place in the Series for 2012.
Some riders in speedway are silky smooth and do all the hard work at the start gate, but not Darcy. He is explosive in every race, fighting with his bike and making some of the most outrageous overtaking manoeuvres you will ever see - and that¹s why people love watching him. Known as Darky to his friends, he decided to give the World Championship a miss this year but a permanent place is likely for 2013 given his phenomenal form this season. In the English Elite League, Darcy has the highest average of anyone and he is not far behind in Poland and Sweden either. He is a
big character on and off the bike, and is all set to make himself a speedway legend.
