Ever since his Grandmother bought a four-year-old Matt Berger his first skateboard from Wal-Mart, Matt has been on a path to greatness. If winning the 2010 “Am getting paid” contest isn’t enough to convince you, how about his front blunt to bigflip out to win best trick at this year’s Maloof Cup? And he ended up second overall to boot.
Matt won’t be in Kamloops for long now that his star has risen and like many of the great Canadian skaters that have come before him, soon he’ll be spending as much time in California as he is in British Columbia. Asked who he likes to skate with, Matt gives it up for his friends Derek Swaim, Stacey Gabriel and Micky Papa, and calls PJ Ladd a big influence.
Watch for more from Matt in the coming years, his flawless style and technical mastery is sure to keep turning heads as the skate world gets to know his name.
