Paulo Goncalves

Goncalves unwittingly became part of Dakar Rally racing lore in 2012 when he stopped to help fellow racer (with a competing energy drink sponsor) Cyril Despres out of the mud 11 kilometers into the 477-km route between Copiapo and Antofagasta (Argentina). But when it came time for Despres to return the favor (to help get Goncalves’ bike out of the mud), he hopped on his KTM and sped away from Goncalves - forever vilified by the close-knit off-road community for the blatant lack of sportsmanship.
