Team owner, racer, miracle man and now a Monster Energy athlete; 28-year old Olle Olsson is one seriously rad guy. Not even a life threatening snowmobile accident in late 2011 could slow this Swedish force of nature down.
“I got pretty unlucky, I didn’t have any feeling from the chest down,” Olle told us casually. “I lost the use of my arms for a while, and the doctors weren’t sure if I would be able to walk again properly. It was tough getting back into shape, but I stayed motivated because I knew I wanted to get better and drive something again.”
Flash forward three years, and while Östersund native has hung up his professional snow-riding gloves, he heads up his own company ‘Oktan AB’, selling quad bikes and snowmobiles, as well as overseeing a 10-rider team that competes in the World and Swedish snowmobile championships.
True to his word, Olle is also back behind the wheel, this time on asphalt, and keeping all four wheels firmly planted on the ground. “With the titanium in my spine, I couldn’t ride motocross or on the snow again, so I looked at drifting. I bought a Nissan S14 on an impulse in 2012. It was kind of a wreck, but we fixed it up and it was a good car to learn in,” continued Olle. “The next season I wanted to build my own car – the E46 BMW base, and get into competition.
“We did a few demos, as well as the World Power slide Championship at Gatebil Rudskogen, where I got to tear it up on track with Monster Energy’s Vaughn Gittin Jr and Liam Doran.”
“2014 is going to be a huge year for both my company and I, we have more shows and demos scheduled, including the King of Europe Pro Series round at Lydden Hill and Gatebil Mantorp and Rudskogen in May and June. I was lucky enough to test a Supercar Lite Rallycross car in February, but I want to go 100% on drifting this year.”
Whatever you do, keep it locked on Monster Energy, to check out Olle doing what he does best, and shredding the blacktop in insane style at the wheel of his race-bred 750bhp.
