Germany
In the Bizarro World – also known as Htrae (Earth spelled backwards) – society is ruled by the Bizarro Code which states “Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!” Since its introduction in DC comics in the early 1960s the concept of “Bizarro” has been ingrained in popular culture where it has come to mean a weirdly mutilated version of anything; so has the concept of “Bizarro World”. With their newest record DEADLOCK are now designing their interpretation of a world built up on extremes and antitheses.
Over their previous LIFEFORCE offerings “Earth.Revolt” (2005), “Wolves” (2007) and “Manifesto” (2008) DEADLOCK have accentuated the signature of their metal-sound in between beauty and darkness with increasing relevance. No wonder the German metallers were chosen to support LACUNA COIL, ALL THAT REMAINS, Sonic Syndicate, Dark Tranquillity, CALIBAN and Heaven Shall Burn within the past two years.
Produced by guitarist Sebastian Reichl begin DEADLOCK’s fifth album “Bizarro World” fascinates with courageous dramaturgy and passionate, dark atmospheres. The sextet found an extensive idea to work with and to challenge creativity. The sound of DEADLOCK is best known for being a combination of opposed elements such as sharp guitar-assaults, pop- and dance-quotations, orchestral profundity, gruffly growls and beautiful clean vocals. On their new album the band improves on what they already did so well and offers a wider and self-assured view on symphonic, yet brutal metal based on a progressive approach. “Bizarro World” somehow sounds perfect - contrary to the concept of a world stigmatizing perfection. “Bizarro World” entered the German album charts on position # 61, followed up by a release tour and festivals slots at With Full Force, Summer Breeze, Wacken, etc.
