BIOGRAPHY

What were you doing at age 13? As for Kokomo Murase, she was busy turning the boardsports world upside down. At X Games Norway 2018, the Japanese snowboard prodigy made history as the first girl to land a 1260 double cork in competition and became the youngest Winter X Games athlete ever to win a gold medal. Boom! The upstart has since evolved from overnight sensation into constant podium fixture in Big Air events across the globe. Hailing from a long family line of snowboarders (younger sister Yura also competes), Murase has been perfecting her aerial chops at Toyama Kings airbag jump training facility for the past few years. But don’t write her off as just another ‘spin kid’ twirling through the air. Her jib game and rail tricks are officially on point, making her a double podium threat with a recent Slopestyle silver at X Games Norway 2020 to boot. She hates losing and is hungry to win it all. Named ‘Snowboarder of the Year’ at the 2019 Japan Action Sports Awards, Kokomo Murase is laser-focused on pushing the boundaries of freestyle snowboarding – and her journey has only just begun. Talk about an exceptionally gifted teenager…
