Yuto Totsuka

Japan Japan

Welcome to the next level. Hailing from Yokohama, Japan, Yuto Totsuka is one of the pacesetters in the rapid evolution of halfpipe snowboarding. Blessed with natural talent, supreme airtime and oodles of style, the young rookie has constantly stepped up his game over the past seasons. In 2018, Yuto first made headlines with a horrific crash at the PyeongChang Olympics that sidelined him from competition. Since then, the only thing he’s been crashing is podiums: A regular top-three contender at international comps, his milestones include FIS World Cup crystal globe wins in 2018 and 2019 as well as two silver medals at X Games. Currently Japan’s reigning halfpipe champ, Yuto spent most of his 2019/2020 season trying to knock Australian Scotty James off his winning streak. Finally, the tables turned at the 2020 U.S. Open when Yuto posted a never-been-done combo of frontside double cork 1440, Cab double cork 1260 and switch backside double cork 1080 to win the most prestigious contest in all of snowboarding. The shape of things to come? You bet! Yuto Totsuka is the future.
