When Lewis Hamilton exploded onto the F1 scene in 2007, he was a clear game changer. It wasn’t just his raw natural pace, or never-say-die driving style that rattled the cages of the more established drivers in the paddock, but also his ability to soak up massive pressure while still delivering super-consistent results.
Flash-forward eight years, and Lewis has carved his name indelibly into the Formula One record books. After a successful six-year rookie tenure at the legendary McLaren Mercedes outfit, Lewis switched to the factory-backed Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. Now aged 30, Lewis has locked down two F1 driver world titles, as well as taken a whopping 70 podiums. More impressively, when you check out the championship results for the years Lewis has been ripping it up in F1, the British racer has never once finished lower than 5th in the season ending tables, and taken podiums in nearly half the Grand Prix he’s started.
In fact it’s been a success story all the way from karts to cars. Undoubtedly it’s his super-slick natural skill which helped him burn through the ranks of karting and junior formula categories, lifting silverware in Formula Renault 2.0 UK, Formula 3 Euro Series, and the GP2 Series.
2015 brings a fresh set of challenges. With the epic 850bhp Mercedes W06 Hybrid underneath him, and a drivers’ and constructors’ title to defend, he is very much the man to beat. Lewis won’t even have to look outside of the team to spot drivers chasing him down. Sharing a pit garage with Nico Rosberg again, it’s set to be one hell of a season, and we`re stoked to be a part of the journey!
