Team Canada rakes it in at X-Games in Aspen!

Jan 292018

It seemed like Monster Energy athletes were getting on every podium, and our Canadian representatives were right in the thick of it.

It started with a bang on Thursday, when Cassie Sharpe, who was the only one bettering each of her previous scores to end up with a 88.66 and a Bronze medal in Women's Superpipe. Cassie's winning momentum should keep her moving forward as she prepares to represent her Country on the biggest stage next month.

At the Snowmobile Speed & Style course, Brett Turcotte, completely dominated the style category and even while leaving out some of his best tricks, at the end of the day, took home his first X-Games gold!

With some tricks still up his sleeve, Turcotte went into Friday's Freestyle Snowmobile event landing motocross style variations never seen on a sled.  Right out of the gate, he landed a "Cali Roll", a trick where he spins 360 degrees on his seat in the air.  After that, it was all swagger, even throwing in no-hander-landers to bump his already ridiculous scores.  Ultimately, another Gold!

Then it was off to the Big Air jump.  Last years' Gold medalist, Max Parrot, had his sights on a repeat, and that's exactly what he did by putting down a cab triple 1800 bumping him up from 5th place to 1st.

Darcy Sharpe had battled ankle injuries as year, and opted out of the Big Air comp so he could focus on the Slopestyle.  It was a great strategy as he qualified high and eventually claimed his first X-games medal, a Silver!

Other notable's were Alex Beaulieu-Marchand and Evan McEachran.  ABM finished in 5th place overall in Men's Ski Slopestyle and McEachran, who qualified 8th, unfortunately never made the finals.

Congrats to everyone on a highly successful X-Games and good luck to all who are taking their game to the big show next month!
