Mel is a shining example of how it’s possible to ‘come back’ in life….even if it has already kicked your ass.

As a promising teenage rider, Pocock was thrown into the gnarly world of Grand Prix racing for two seasons in the late 00`s but sometimes struggled to score points.

A break from the international spotlight in 2011 gave him the chance to forge a strong alliance with fellow Monster Energy athlete Tommy Searle, along with his renowned trainer Kirk Gibbons, which saw Mel swiftly begin to turn his fortunes around.

In 2012, the now-fearless and occasionally-ruthless rider won six from seven rounds - claiming the MX2 European Championship. A few GP wild-card outings and top ten finishes also showed that he was on the right path and deservedly earned another world championship shot on a works Yamaha for 2013.  Mel switched to a KTM bike at the beginning of the 2014 season and has since gained victories in round 1 at Landrake, round 2 at Cadders Hill, Lyng and round 4 at Canada Heights as well as a runner up spot at round 5 in Skelder Bank, Whitby.

After a brutal hand injury earlier this year we are sure Pocock will be back with a fighting attitude.

Definitely one to watch, the big irony about Mel is that for his speed and aggression on the track, he is thoughtful and immensely friendly once the engine-stop button has been hit.
