A native of Hawaii, Tri is among the world's elite class of beach volleyball players. In 2014 he won the AVP and FIVB rookie of the year awards, and since then he has been winning on both of these international and domestic tours. In 2016, Tri was the alternate team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the 2016 FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto, Tri won a bronze medal with his former. At the end of the 2018 season when Tri returned from an almost two-year absence, due to an auto-immune disease that sidelined him from 2017-18, he partnered up with childhood friend and fellow Monster Hydro athlete, Trevor Crabb. As the only split-blocking team (both players switch off blocking and also play defense) in America, they quickly became fan favorites.Tri is the co-host of beach volleyball's most popular podcast, SANDCAST, and also helps out as a beach volleyball broadcaster when time permits. Outside of the sport, Tri is a husband and father who loves to spend his free time surfing.
