Cristian Merello is a professional surfer from Punta de Lobos, Chile, a famous place known for its gigantic waves. His addiction to this sport began at the early age of 11, inspired by his friend and fellow surfer Ramon Navarro and the unique waves of his hometown. His first professional competition was Punta de Lobos Ceremonial in 2009, his first Big Wave competition. In spite of an injury where he sprained his ligaments and underwent a fractured meniscus, he decided not to give up in his journey to become one of the best Big Wave riders in the world.He reinstated to the international circuit with a dream comeback, winning the first place in Ceremonial 2010, beating some of the world's best surfers. Afterwards, in the same competition, his career leaped forward by getting the fifth place in the same competition in 2013 and second in 2015, this last contest was included in the Big Wave Tour and was part of the World Surf League, which got him in surf's mayor leagues. Always wanting to be the best athlete and ride the biggest and most extreme waves in the whole world, today Cristian Merello is one of the top 20 Big Wave riders in the world and, he's not gonna stop until he reaches his goal.
