At the start of 2017, George was announced as a member of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team's junior program, while also moving to the GP3 Series. He went on to take the championship title, with four race wins and three further podiums – while also completing F1 testing with Mercedes and driving in two FP1 sessions for Force India. In 2018 George moved into a full-time F1 race seat with Williams, and fast-forward another four seasons to 2022, and he is now a full works driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team alongside Lewis Hamilton.
