Warzone Mobile Deploys Onto The Field
We can’t always be within arms reach of a console or PC setup — life has a vexing habit of getting in the way. So how do we secure that authentic Call of Duty experience, something integral to so many of us, even when we’re far from home? Enter Call of Duty (PEGI 18);
Warzone Mobile. Here, the art of the battle royale has been brought directly to mobile devices without sacrificing any of the high octane gameplay that Call of Duty is known for. Bringing back fan-favorite maps and modes, Warzone Mobile rounds out the current franchise offerings with the beloved Verdansk and the anarchy of Rebirth Island, only now they sit comfortably in the palm of your hand.
While Verdansk crafted us into the Warzone players we are today, no-one earned their stripes harder than Monster Energy’s Ethan "Fifakill" Pink. Versatile and masterful, Fifakill ruled the Verdansk proving grounds during its original run and knows just how special it is for the map to return in Warzone Mobile:
“Seeing Verdansk gives me adrenaline that you just don't get with anything else. I don't know if it's nostalgia, but there’s just something about it that just hits every time,” Fifakill explained. “And if Verdansk didn't exist, I wouldn't be where I am now. So I feel like I owe it. It made me.”

Warzone Mobile’s commitment to its players is best highlighted in the return of the iconic Resurgence map, Rebirth Island. Boasting fast, intense combat coupled with rapid redeploys, Rebirth Island retains all of its punch in Warzone Mobile. The same rules apply, and the same strategies succeed, only now with a hungrier player base.
“We land Storage every single game. Every single game,” Fifakill said. “We have a two-one split: We have two guys land on top of the tower where we have high control, and then I land on the helipad. There's a cashout, so you get a lot of money for your loadout. We do that every single game.”
Warzone Mobile’s biggest draw is that it can be played anywhere, anytime* — an absolute necessity for Monster Energy athletes. Highly regarded as one of the world’s best BMX street riders, Dan Lacey is no stranger to Warzone Mobile and believes it’s something that has to be experienced first hand.
“It’s amazing. Like a trip down memory lane, and I just can’t believe it’s on my phone,” Lacey said. “I feel like I play better on [Warzone Mobile] than I do on the main Call of Duty right now. I’m quite fresh to the mobile gaming scene, but I feel like I was picking it up way quicker than I thought I would. The motion is quick, and the frame rate is so high now. There’s no lag between anything you’re doing. I was like, ‘Okay, they’ve nailed it. This is crazy.’”
Lacey, who joined Monster Energy back in 2012, has a lot in common with the wider Call of Duty player base. Namely, that he knows the game provides a sense of balance within a busy lifestyle, and that there’s nothing like kicking back with a few matches of Warzone to unwind.
“I feel it's one of those things. Like, I'll go out riding for most of the day and my mate Stan will message me at 7 or 8pm. He's just finished work, I’ve just finished my day riding, and that's just our little release. We'll jump on, play it for a good three or four hours, then my brothers will jump on,” he explained. “It’s my free time, and I love Call of Duty. It’s how I decompress.”
For Lacey, whose history with Call of Duty goes as far back as the original Modern Warfare, the franchise goes hand-in-hand with his riding:
“It just seems to flow evenly between the two. If I'm having a day off, or I've had a really heavy week of filming, I'm like, ‘Right. I'm having a PS5 day.’ I’m having Call of Duty down, I’m gonna try to figure my stuff out, level up a bunch. I'll go into Multiplayer to level up and then go back into Warzone. Then I'll look on my Instagram and there's someone going on about the new best kit, so I've got to go back in to try and get on the same page as all the streamers. They're just so good at it.”

There’s a lot of shared ground between gaming and sports. For racing driver Nic Hamilton and drifter Luke Woodham, their skills translate seamlessly over to Call of Duty.
“Awareness, and reaction time. 100% reaction time,” Woodham said, who’s been a key driver in Monster Energy’s drifting roster for the past nine years. “There’s a lot of strategy involved,” Hamilton added. “In racing you have to position yourself in the right place and outsmart people. In Call of Duty, you have to do exactly the same.” “Yeah, don't poke your head out the window because you're going down,” Woodham jokes. “I'm still devoted to racing games. I play racing games more as practice, to keep myself fresh, then Call of Duty as more of a fun thing. I wanna go on there, crush some games, and leave.”
For Hamilton, though, Call of Duty has been more than just a way to unwind. “I built a lot of friendships, a lot of relationships, and I've kept a lot of relationships that maybe would have been very distant if it wasn't for Call of Duty - I love playing Call of Duty and hanging out with my mates.”
