Loretta Lynn's Championship | Day 3

Published On: 8/4/2023

Wild weather, lightning delays and shortened motos at Loretta’s have little effect on the Monster Energy racers as they, again, dominate their classes.

Big time storms ripped through the Mid-South, wracking Hurricane Mills (Tenn.) and turning the MX Sports track at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch into a good, old-fashioned mudder at the 42nd running of the Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship. Or, in other words, it was mudder skills or laundry bills as the fastest young racers around eventually battled it out in the hyper slick and sloppy conditions on Thursday.

Leading the way for Monster Energy were a number of athletes, including Jeremy Fappani and Leum Oehlohf, who are both putting on quite a racing show in both the 250 and 450 B classes, with Fappani winning both classes on Thursday. Kyleigh Stallings stayed perfect in WMX, winning on Thursday to go 1-1 so far. Tiger Wood would win the 125 Jr. (12-15) B/C, then follow that up with another win on Thursday in the Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C class. Other class winners on Thursday for Monster Energy included: Seth Dennis (Supermini 1) and Krystian Janik (250 B).

Here’s a look at Monster Energy Day Three podium highlights @ Loretta’s…

  • Another great battle in the 250 B Limited class between Monster Energy’s Jeremy Fappani and Leum Oehlhof. On Thursday, Fappani would avenge the 2nd place finish to Tuesday’s Moto 1 winner, Oehlhof, with Oehlhof placing 2nd to Fappani on Thursday. This sets up a Monstrous showdown in Moto 3, scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m.
  • A carbon copy in the 450 B Limited class as Jeremy Fappani and Leum Oehlhof went 1st & 2nd, respectively, in that classes opening moto.
  • Though Carson Wood scored the only podium (2nd place) in Mini Sr. 1 (12-14) for Monster Energy on Wednesday, Cole Blecha’s 5th place finish on Thursday, coupled with his 3rd place finish in the opening moto, would give him 1st place overall after two Mini Sr. 1 motos. Wood is in 3rd place with an 8-2 two moto effort thus far.
  • Supermini 1 (12-15) would be Monster Energy’s first podium sweep on Thursday, with Seth Dennis taking 1st, Deacon Denno 2nd and Landen Gordon 3rd in this classes opening moto. Will be an epic battle between these three over the next couple days at Loretta’s.
  • Big showdown in 125 Jr. (12-15) B/C as Monster Energy’s Tiger Wood, who won the classes opening moto, placed 2nd on Thursday – evening up the overall points with Klark Robbins. The two will decide the 125 Jr. class champion on Friday at 5 p.m.
  • Tiger Wood would come back with a fury in the next class, Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C, winning the opening moto.
  • Monster Energy’s Kyleigh Stallings stayed perfect in WMX class action, adding another 1st place on Thursday (to go with her 1st place run on Tuesday) and has a decisive lead after two rounds in the women’s premier class.
  • With another 2nd place effort on Thursday in 250 B racing (to go with his 2nd place effort on Tuesday), Monster Energy’s Drew Adams took over the classes points lead after two motos. Krystian Janik would win on Thursday, moving into 2nd place overall (6-1) and Logan Best made the podium in 3rd on Thursday, his 8-1 two moto finishes has him in 3rd overall.
