Ready to Rip at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch

Published On: 7/28/2023

The 42nd annual running of the Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship, aka “Loretta’s,” showcases the sport’s future greats.

Last year was a banner year for Monster Energy’s legion of amateur motocross racers at the sport’s premier showcase of up-and-coming racers, the 42nd annual Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship, held each August on the grounds of famed country singer Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Last summer, from all points on the map, including north and south of the border and both ways overseas, Monster Energy racers would capture 13 championships, 31 podium finishes and 43 top five positions in the 19 classes they contested. And this year those numbers should be equaled, if not bettered, as Monster Energy gets set to unleash a virtual Army of berm bustin’, double clearin’, holeshot pullin’ badass kids on dirt bikes @ Loretta’s.

Leading the Monster Energy assault, which begins next Monday (July 31st), will be Casey Cochran (Clermont, Fla.). Cochran swept last year’s 125 Jr. (12-17) B/C and Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C classes at Loretta’s, and will look to defend his title in the Schoolboy 1 class next week. Joining Cochran as a return double champion for Monster Energy will be Avery Long (New London, Minn.). Last year, Long swept the hotly contested 450 B and 450 B Limited classes, and will move up this year with the big dogs – Open Pro Sport and 250 Pro Sport.

Other returning champions for Monster Energy include Arizona’s (Scottsdale) Jeremy Fappani, who won the Supermini 1 (12-15) class and Leum Oehlof (Oak Hills, Calif.), the Supermini 2 (13-16) champion. Both Fappani and Oehlof will step up to race the 450 B and 250 B Limited classes. And in the girls gate, Kyleigh Stallings (Austin, Texas) graduates from the Girls (11-16) class, which she won, to race the premier WMX class.

Other returning Monster Energy-backed racers who earned podium finishes at Loretta’s last summer include:

Gavin Towers (Venetia, Pa.), 2nd 250 Pro Sport, racing Open Pro Sport and 250 Pro Sport
