With an infectious drumbeat and a tantalizing rhythm that will undeniably entice all to hit the dance floor, “Diva” takes center stage in her highly-anticipated upcoming project, set to release later this year. Following the success of her empowering singles “Ricota” and “Peligrosa,” Angeliq aims to inspire a sense of beauty, self-love, and empowerment in all her listeners.
Mariah Angeliq, also known as “La Princesa de Miami” and “La Tóxica”, is a talented Cuban-Puerto Rican-American artist who was born and raised in the vibrant city of Miami. Her roots and experiences in this diverse city have greatly influenced both her music and her unique identity.
From a very young age, Angeliq has always had a deep passion for music, a passion she owes to her mother who always had R&B, hip-hop, and soul playing around the house. It was in this love for music that Angeliq also discovered artists like Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, who became major sources of inspiration for her craft. However, it wasn't until she reached the age of 15 that she had the opportunity to enter a recording studio, an experience that truly ignited her curiosity for the artistry of music. It was during this time that she crossed paths with the renowned reggaetón producer Nely, who became her mentor and introduced her to the world of Spanish music. While Angeliq initially delved into trap, she later ventured into the Spanish genre, gradually embracing it as her own. Today, her ambition lies in becoming a transition artist as she strives to merge the two genres and create an authentically fearless sound that truly speaks to her listeners.
With notable hits like “El Makinon” (2021) and “Bandida” (2023) in her repertoire, along with a successful collaboration with Reggaeton pop star Karol G, and the release of her first EP Normal (2020) through Universal Music Latino, Angeliq has been making impressive strides in the Latin music arena. Her journey, however, is far from over. She's undoubtedly an artist to watch as she continues to climb the charts and let her inner diva shine.
“I definitely want to connect with new fans,” she said. “I also want them to connect with me and realize we can all do this, that we are all icons. As long as you believe in yourself and go for it, you can manifest it. Let’s get it!”
Behind the Beats:
- When Nely added Angeliq to the Artillery Music catalogue, she kicked off her musical journey by remixing Bad Bunny's song “Amorfoda”.
- At the age of 16, Angeliq left her home to chase her music career, even though her parents wanted her to pursue a more traditional job.
- She made an appearance as a featured artist in Karol G's album KG0516, singing in the catchy tune “El Makinon”. This song has become a massive hit.
- She was named after Mariah Carey, who happens to be both her and her mother's favorite singer.
- Although Spanish was her first language, Angeliq quickly picked up English when she started going to school in New Jersey.
