Record-Setting Sara Price In Morocco

With a couple victories – the first ever by an American woman in FIM World Rally Raid Championship history - and podium finishes, Monster Energy’s Sara Price (BFGoodrich/Can-Am) finished as the runner-up today in the T4 Modified Production SSV (or SXS in the U.S.) class at Rallye du Maroc this past week, the fifth and final stop on the ’23 WRRC global tour.

Price, with co-driver Jeremy Gray in their Can-Am Maverick X3, finished the fifth and final stage on Wednesday in 8th place, which had them just under an hour behind overall SSV Modified Production class winners, Portugal’s Joao Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro – also racing a Can-Am SSV.

Said Price, to her WRRC media partner DirtFish.com, of her first week-long overseas FIA World Rally Raid Championship event: “Today wasn’t our day,” as the Maverick X3 had suffered a bent radius arm in the opening 30 miles of the 100-mile stage. “The radius rod cost us 20 or 30 minutes. We ran with that crooked rear wheel all the way, but the car held together and we stayed in 2nd place. That’s amazing.”

Price continued: “The big take away from this week is the two stage wins – they’re huge and give J (Gray) and me so much confidence going forwards towards Dakar. And being the first American female to win a rally raid (WRRC) stage win is massive. That’s a real thrill and an absolute honor.

“We showed our speed and our ability to bring the car through some unbelievable conditions. I wasn’t sure what to expect this week, and fighting for the win in a huge result for me. I feel so much more ready for Dakar now. I can’t wait. I want to start it now. Or maybe tomorrow!”
