Monster Energy Buck Off At The Garden 2024

Published On: 1/8/2024

PBR fan favorite Chase Outlaw compared the Monster Energy Buck Off at The Garden to the “World Finals because only the greats of the greats have won here.”

Calling Madison Square Garden “the greatest sports venue in the world,” PBR fan favorite Chase Outlaw compared the Monster Energy Buck Off at The Garden to the “World Finals because only the greats of the greats have won here.”

The PBR’s 17th trip to New York City was a hell of way to kick off 2024.

Four of six Monster Energy bull riders — Daylon Swearingen, Kaique Pacheco, Boudreaux Campbell — were on hand to celebrate one of the most exciting events with Outlaw, who is out of competition with broken leg, addressing a sold-out Saturday crowd, “We are so thankful to be doing it right here.”

An hour later, Monster Energy teammate Boudreaux Campbell brought the same crowd its feet with a qualified ride. Campbell was 2-for-3 in the long rounds to qualify for the Championship Round afternoon when he matched up with the No. 1 ranked bull in the world—Man Hater.

It was a Monster selection by Campbell.

And it was matchups like Campbell and Man Hater — “this is where some of the greatest fights have been fought” — Outlaw told the crowd, “I know you paid for the whole seat, but you’re only going to use the edge of it.”

Coming into the weekend, Man Hater averaged a league-leading 46.09 points per out compared to the gold standard of 45 and had twice been marked 47 or more points. Sunday made it three times.

Man Hater was marked 47.75 points.

Campbell, who went 2-for-4 in the first of three PBR Major events worth double points in the overall standings, finished the event in the Top 10 and became the fourth Monster Energy rider to move into the Top 25 of the PBR world standings.

Pacheco is 17th followed by Jose Vitor Leme, 20; Campbell, 22; and Swearingen, 25.

Campbell said his plan this season is to stay consistent and stay confident.

“It takes 8 seconds to get a score,” Campbell concluded, “so I’m going to ride a full 8.”

Pacheco, Swearingen, and Campbell will be in Chicago, Illinois, this coming weekend followed by trips to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Houston, Texas, to round out the month of January on the elite, televised level of PBR competition.

Leme (groin), a two-time PBR World Champion, is week to week regarding his return to competition, while the return of Derek Kolbaba (neck) and Outlaw (leg) has yet to be determined.
