Toa Sasaki Takes Silver at WST World Cup Rome 2025
Monster Energy’s Toa Sasaki claims second in Rome with standout tricks in a stacked Men’s Skateboard Street final.
What a showdown in the Eternal City! Monster Energy proudly congratulates team rider Toa Sasaki on earning second place in Men’s Skateboard Street at the World Skateboarding Tour (WST) World Cup Rome 2025. The 18-year-old from Mie, Japan, rose to the occasion in a stacked final packed with elite talent, high scores, and never-been-done tricks.
Sanctioned by World Skate, the official governing body for Olympic skateboarding, the WST World Cup Rome brought together the world’s top park and street skaters from June 1–15. The event culminated in a dramatic street final at Colle Oppio Skatepark, set against the iconic backdrop of the Colosseum.

Sasaki Shines in a World-Class Final
Facing off against Olympic gold medalists and X Games champions, Sasaki entered the final as a serious podium threat after his breakout win at the World Skate Games Italy 2024. He delivered under pressure, landing a flawless second run that included a bank to rail backside noseblunt slide, 360 kickflip the bump, frontside kickflip the quarter pipe, and a massive backside 360 to flat—earning a Run score of 92.86, one of the highest of the weekend.
In the Best Trick section, Sasaki kept the momentum going with a gap-out Caballerial to fakie nosegrind on the Hubba ledge, scoring 95.07 on his first attempt. His combined score of 187.93 secured him the silver medal in an all-Japanese podium sweep to kick off the 2025 WST season.

Vianna Pushes Limits with Historic Trick
Also making waves in the final, Giovanni Vianna of Santo Andre, Brazil, held a top-three position for much of the session. After scoring 83.88 in his Run, Vianna landed a Caballerial to switch backside Smith grind—a never-been-done trick—earning 96.93, the fourth-highest trick score in WST history. He finished just off the podium in fourth with a total of 180.81.
What’s Next on the WST Calendar?
The WST World Cup Rome also featured standout performances in the Park discipline the previous weekend. Now, all eyes turn to the WST 2025 World Championships in Washington, DC, from September 19–28, and the X Games Osaka 2025, happening June 20–22, where the Monster Energy team will be back in action.
