Check Out Dakar Rally and the Monster Energy Racers
Monster Energy Honda Team, Hero Motosports, fueled by Monster Energy, and Monster Energy-backed Sara Price are one day out from the start of the Dakar
Easily one of the most globally inclusive events Monster Energy participates in, the running of the 46th annual Dakar Rally – since 2020 in Saudi Arabia – is an extreme endurance motorsports event (motorcycles, quads, cars and truck) contested by both professional and amateur racers from every corner of the globe imaginable.
For 2024 Monster Energy will again contest the motorcycle division (with one racer, Sara Price, in the SSV/UTV division), sponsoring both the uber powerful factory Monster Energy Honda Team and fueling the highly competitive Hero Motosports team. The teams and Price will, over the course of 15 days, run some 5,000 miles from one end of Saudi Arabi to the other – and back – through the harshest of conditions (called “Specials”) to road-based miles (called “Liaisons”).
Again this year the media coverage provided by Dakar organizers Amaury Sport Organization (ASO, organizers of the Tour de France) will be second-to-none in terms of a multi-prong effort from the far reaches of Saudi’s famed “Empty Quarter” desert. ASO’s virtual media army includes more than 560 accredited media members from 33 countries, while the organization itself provides multiple TV helicopters, TV vehicles (on the track and roads), 23 production and broadcast trucks and 22 on-board cameras and 22 camera operators.
TV
Plugging in to ASO’s vast media production program at Dakar will be USA’s MAVTV – the primary television broadcast partner for Dakar here in the States. The opening round of the 2024 FIM World Rally Raid Championship series, Dakar, can be viewed on MAVTV’s same-day broadcasts. Beginning on Jan. 5th with the running of the Dakar Prologue, MAVTV will air highlights from each day’s racing action beginning at noon EST and PST, with encore broadcasts at 7 p.m. (EST/PST). NBC Sports will join MAVTV in broadcasting Dakar highlights on Peacock.
Webcast/Streaming and Free Sites
Subscription-based NBC Sports’ YouTube channel will feature Dakar highlights, as will Floracing.com with on-demand coverage from Dakar. Monster Energy-specific updates (free of charge) will be posted daily right here on MonsterEnergy.com, Honda’s racing websit , Hero Motosports’ website, and Sara Price’s personal website.
