Back in 2005 Team Japspeed first formed thanks to petrol head (and extreme sports fanatic) Paul McCallum who, having witnessed the speed, skill and smoke involved with drifting decided to setup and build his own Nissan Skyline drift car. Ten years later Team Japspeed now features the VH45 powered Nissan Z34 370Z.

Team Japspeed`s previous trio of S15s and Subaru have been hugely competitive over the years (with the RBS15 winning this year’s BDC at the hands of Shane O’Sullivan.) But for 2015 it was decided a new flagship car was to be introduced. The V8 S15 was retired towards the end of this season with Shane Lynch finishing off the year’s remaining events in the 2JZ Lexus.  We can`t wait to see what the VH45 powered Nissan Z34 370Z has to offer this season!

Team Japspeed consists of Ireland’s Shane O’Sullivan and Shane Lynch and UK drifting legends Brett Castle and Paul ‘Smokey` Smith.  Between them the team have won multiple events including the team Drift battle in 2011 alongside the overall constructor’s championship with the British Drift Championship.

Reaching speeds of over 100mph sideways and twin drifting just inches apart from one another, Team Japspeed is one of the fiercest teams competing in the BDC.

We’ve drifted at just about every track and course in the UK including the NEC Arena for Top Gear Live and Autosport International’ explains Japspeed boss Paul McCallum.

With the British Drift Championships coming round later this year there is no doubt that these guys will bring the heat!
