OKTAGON RETURNS BACK TO THE ROOTS, INTRODUCING EIGHTENED PYRAMID IN THE PROJECT UNDERGROUND LAST MAN STANDING
One evening, one weight, one champion. OKTAGON returns to the holy grail of martial arts in the new UNDERGROUND project: Last man standing. On the last Saturday in February, eight fighters will compete in a pyramid in a single tournament, and through the quarterfinals and semifinals, two of them will be tested until the final match. Eight fighters will enter the ring, seven of them will fall and only one will become the champion.
"This is the most feared sporting challenge of all time. With the concept of an eight-member pyramid, we return to the basics of martial arts. In order for a fighter to become a champion, he must defeat three others in one evening,” says Ondřej Novotný, the promoter and owner of OKTAGON, about the planned project.
"It is really difficult to find strength and energy for the next matches," says about the concept of the pyramid and three matches in a single evening Tomáš Hron, an experienced Czech stand-up fighter who has experienced countless tournaments with such a concept in his rich career.
And who can we look forward to? True stand-up legends such as Vladimír Moravčík, Tomáš Hron, Igor Daniš, Vašek Sivák or Bellator fighter Monika Chochlíková as well as young talents including Čehovský, Fapšo, Kozubovský and many more.
“We have put together a proven and attractive tournament concept in which we have put world-successful names. Now it's up to them how they manage to attract the audience," adds Novotný.
