SAMXN RD6 Harrismith

Not only has 2017 proven to be one of the most intense racing seasons yet, but the final round will see all the championships decided and crowned at Terra Topia. The standard of racing that we have been witness to this year pays tribute to the work that been done over the recent years by everyone involved in the National MX Championship.

Terra Topia, located at Northern Farms, plays host to this final spectacle of racing. The massive changes that the venue has undertaken in the last year will ensure that Spectators are in for a treat with activities for the kids, food trucks, plenty of parking and much more to keep you well looked after as you enjoy the best racing in SA!

The MX1 class title contention saw the loss of Husqvarna Racing’s Richard van der Westhuizen as he broke his ankle in a training accident whilst preparing for the final. The sport shows once again how unforgiving it can be and the championship shows how nothing is ever cast in stone until that final flag drops. This leaves the title battle down to Tintswalo Out of Africa Yamaha team mates Tristan Purdon and David Goosen. All eyes are on the Rookie though, to see if Tristan can seal that MX1 title in his first year on the 450’s.

If we have to go on the racing we saw in Harrismith in the MX2 class, we are in for a real treat at the final. With Richard out, Kerim Fitz-Gerald has the best chance of catching David Goosen but after the incredible riding we saw from GAC Laser Ace Sports’ Anthony Raynard at Round 6, a massive upset is not impossible.

For the third year Monster Energy and TRP Distributors bring us the South African National Motocross Championship. Along with them are sponsors Thor, Brigestone, Gaerne, FMF, Motul, EVS, Just 1 Helmets, Fly Racing, 100%, DC Shoes and Pac-rite.

In addition to these we have great partners joining us again namely Racestar Graffix and Sunoco Race Shop.

The race takes place on 14th October at Terra Topia, Northern Farms, Diepsloot, Gauteng. Practice kicks off at 8am with racing taking place from 10am.  Entrance is R60 per adult and free for kids of 12 years and younger.

The Championship is sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa (MSA) and brought to you by Motocross South Africa (MX SA).
