Aori Nishimura

Japan Japan

Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Aori Nishimura is part of a new generation of female street skaters that has it all. Big rail tricks with incredible consistency? Check. Technical flip tricks and ledge combos? Definitely. Her rapid progression and constant drive to learn new tricks have made Aori Nishimura one of the pacesetters of street skating’s progression. She became a household name by becoming the first Asian female street skater to win a gold medal at X-Games in Women’s street. She then went on to winning the Street League World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in January 2019. That year, she took back-to-back X Games gold in Minneapolis and Norway to bring her gold medal count to three. What’s more, she just joined an elite circle of skateboarders to appear as a playable character in the new version of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game (she also made history as the first Japanese skateboarder featured in the series). And she’s still a teenager! Also look forward to seeing Aori Nishimura battle for Olympic gold in skateboarding’s debut at the Tokyo Games in 2021, where she’s a podium favorite. The bar has officially been raised, and the women’s street skating circuit will never be the same.
