From racing in the Boys category to Junior to Pro, Tom ‘tomtom’ van Steenbergen has been racking up the podium finishes at Crankworx since 2010. He started on his path to two-wheeled greatness at six-years-old, competing in his first BMX race at 12. In 2010, he made his debut at Crankworx, an experience he says was game-changing: “It was insane. It was so cool to be able to ride the same courses as your favourite riders. And to watch them race after you just did your race,” he said. Beyond the stoke, he managed to snag two second-place podium finishes in the Dual Slalom and the Giant Slalom. From there, he transitioned from racing Juniors to Pro, building on his skills and successes. His favourite Crankworx moment, so far, was racing the 2016 CLIF Bar Dual Speed & Style finals against his brother Bas, when he delivered the first double-backflip ever executed in the competition.
