Two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood admitted he was “damn near in tears.”
The Montana native had just ridden a practice bull Monday evening and wrote on Instagram that he felt “like my normal self again. I can’t wait to be back to the PBR and winning.”
Lockwood, who missed significant time last season after suffering a near-career-ending injury in which he tore his hamstring completely in half and ripped it clean off the bone, returned to competition earlier this season only to discover a pelvis injury that had gone undetected from a year earlier. He has been out since mid-May.
In his Monday social post, Lockwood wrote, “I felt like I hadn’t had a surgery or missed any time at all.”
Truth is, he had two major surgeries in a year’s time and has not been healthy in 18 months.
