“Nothing will ever compare to Cardiff, but this one is pretty special. I think a lot of people could say that there were things in my favour in Cardiff with the track and the home crowd, but tonight was a good race-track and I think everyone was at their best. It feels awesome to win at my home GP and then at my home in Poland, and I hope the fans enjoyed it tonight.”
“I showed good strength to turn it around when things weren’t going too well and the boys kept working all night, and we found something when it mattered. We didn’t panic, after three rides I changed bikes and in my fourth ride I made a good start but just couldn’t get round Tai, I went too wide and couldn’t get back, but I knew I had speed and the second bike was much better, so we didn’t change a thing after that.”
“In the semi-final it’s easy if you have the last pick because the decision is made for you. I managed to make a good one off of gate three, and I felt good, and then the final was hard because second pick is a tough choice – you have so many options. I don’t know if gate one was good or not, but Magic left it for me and I made it, so I’m pretty pleased with it!”
Bewley is enjoying one of the most impressive rookie seasons in recent memory, and now his focus has turned to trying to stay in the medal positions come the end of the season.
He said: “I have definitely felt a shift now from people hoping I could win to expecting it, but that’s pretty cool. You have to earn pressure and I have got myself in that position where people expect me to do something, so I enjoy that, it’s cool to see the change, and now I just have to keep going.”
“I’m still going to take it round-by-round, tonight if I’d have dropped one point in my last ride I’d have been out, so things could’ve been very different. The goal has changed, of course, I’m in third, and I want to be in the medal positions, but I’m not going to look too far ahead.
“I’m really looking forward to the last three rounds, I think Vojens and Malilla will suit me and my style a lot, and I like Torun. Everyone goes well there but Vojens and Malilla, they should be good for me, and I’m looking forward to going there and hopefully picking up some points.”
