2016 Mammoth Mountain Motocross

Early in the week the mini bikes led the charge with some outstanding riding coming from Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Lance Kobusch in the Supermini classes. Lance took the top step to claim his 2 Championships! Watch out for Lightening Lance as he heads back to the Loretta Lynn Ranch in a few weeks to finish his mini bike career on the top of the podium!

Opening up the big bike racing with a streak of wins was Max Markolf of Charlotte NC. This larger than life character has been having a standout year winning a championship at the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross and coming in 2nd in the inaugural Jessie Cup SX(held in memory of Jessie Masterpool) Max suffered some bad luck on the second day of racing, however, and wouldn’t be able to back up his prior win. He would have to settle for a 2nd and then finish the week with a 4th…

We spoke with Max after the race and got this feedback, ‘A few mistakes and a crash kept me from my full potential but I will be ready for Loretta’s… Hey, you cant win em all, I’m just out here livin, lovin…’

Young gun Jordan Bailey was making it look easy all week… Setting the fastest time of the week (even faster than the pro’s) he didn’t lose a moto… 6 for 6 and 3 championships meant Jordan’s confidence is at an all-time high going into Loretta Lynn’s. ‘Im really happy how the week went, my Monster Energy Pro Circuit Team Green Kawasaki bike was on point all week and I cant thank the team and everyone who helps me week in week out enough for all their support. ‘

The man of the event was definitely Bradley Taft, making it into the history books as one of the very few racers to manage to sweep all the pro classes at Mammoth motocross! Bradley said in an interview prior to the race that his goal was to ride ‘smart and calculated’ and he absolutely did just that! Not many riders come up here and sweep the most competitive classes the event has to offer, but Bradley did… We expect to see big things from Bradley in the future!
