A weekend to forget for Anthony Kumpen in Brands Hatch

The Indy Circuit from Brands Hatch in Kent is perhaps one of the shortest circuits but it is also one of the hardest. A small contact can have major consequences. It is also difficult to catch up, which makes the qualifications even more important. Those training sessions were not an absolute windfall for Stienes Longin (yet beautiful fifth) and Anthony Kumpen (eighth). During the first race on Saturday, however, the two-time NASCAR Whelen Euro Series showed its best side, and even jumped to third place. Eventually he was ranked fourth. 

But an accident never comes alone. On Sunday it did not really run on wheels.. Stienes Longin was pushed around on the Cooper Straight during the opening round and ended up just before the coming cars. Some, including father Bert (substitute with Alex Caffi Motorsport), could not avoid him anymore. The young man from Leuven came out his car with a hurt leg, his Chevrolet seemed ready for the scrap heap. 

"Suddenly, without any warning, it was there" explains Kumpen. "Until then everything went well, I just finished the fastest game lap and in the end, I could even keep that and which was actually the only bright spot of the weekend. But it is not a huge drama.
