Action Packed Weekend for Monster Energy Athletes in Melbourne

As the sun beckoned on the scenic Albert Park circuit on Wednesday, teams, drivers and spectators were expecting a picturesque few days of racing action. Melbourne though, had other ideas. Drivers were hit with all types of weather conditions during the weekend, burning through each set of tyres in order to keep up with the ever-changing circuit surface.

The Monster Energy team though, as always, were prepared to do battle in whatever condition presented itself. V8 Supercars freshman Cam Waters earned some war paint on the side of his Prodrive Racing Australia Ford FG-X Falcon across the weekend, as he battled hard to place himself inside the top ten.

The 21-year-old showed blistering pace every time he was on the racetrack, and if the first two rounds are anything to go by, it would be clear that the young gun has a bright future in the V8 Supercars championship. James ‘JC’ Courtney used the smarts he’s gained from being an ex Formula One test driver by posting an extremely consistent weekend scorecard, landing four top-ten finishes in each of the four races contested at the Albert Park circuit.

Knowing that the round didn’t count towards the season championship points, the Holden Racing Team had a strategy in play to where they’d test and hone their Commodore lions for the upcoming events in the championship. Drivers and teams will travel across the Bass Straight in order to contest round two of the V8 Supercars championship, where Monster Energy athletes will aim for supremacy at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains circuit
