At his first experience in an urban downhill competition, Catalan rider Adolf Silva left all the fans speechless that mobbed the streets at Downhill Taxco 2017.
"I came here for the first time and I enjoyed it so much, the track was very good, there were a lot more technical sections and the ramps treated me very well!" 20-year-old Silva commented. “I was surprised by the number of people who were really interested in seeing the competition, I would love to repeat this experience. I had never seen an audience like the Mexicans ... they go crazy.”
About 45,000 people came together to see 40 of the craziest athletes on the planet take on the challenging course in Taxco. Canadian rider, Remy Metailler, was crowned champion of the speed section with a time of 1:46:89.
In the “Best Trick” competition, Silva went all out and gave the Mexicans a show winning the competition.
"In the first ramp I pulled a double grip and in the second a front flip which I had never practiced,” Silva explained, “I did not think I was going to win, I was just having fun with my friends and I was really surprised by the results, I cannot wait for the next competition! " finished Silva.
