The last day of May was marked with an epic show from the supported by Monster Energy band Anthrax and the metal titans Slayer at the national winter palace in Sofia.
For most of us it was unusual a concert of this caliber to start before dark, but the info about the early beginning spread quickly and at 7:30 PM the hall was almost full.
The reborn Anthrax came on stage with in good spirits and eager to show the Bulgarian crowd that after their performance in the grand “Big four” show in 2010 they are getting better and better. Even songs like Breathing Lightning and Evil Twin from the new album For All Kings weren’t too heavy for the die-hard old-school fans who came to hear classics from Among The Living and Spreading The Disease.
The last track of the set was the immortal Indians on which Belladonna had the whole crowd singing together. After a short brake in which was held the final of an air guitar competition led by Alex Purvanov a.k.a. SDB, it was time for the everlasting Slayer.
The hall was full, the fans well warmed up and everybody shouted in unison the name of their favorite band. The 4 metal gods took their place and hit everyone strait in the face with Repentless. Tom Araya didn’t sing – he shouted out the words describing his own life ”No looking back, no regrets, no apologies/What you get is what you see.”
The ruthless performance lasted 2 hours and on the way out from the “palace” the thirsty fans of the heaviest sound possible were greeted with a cold Monster Rehab from the Monster Energy crew.
