Baggsy's Mazda RX-7 ready for Gymkhana GRiD 2017

Baggsy drops RX-7 at one-month countdown

Oct 192017

It’s exactly one month to the day that Gymkhana GRiD 2017 drops the clutch in South Africa. In the final rundown to motorsport’s most rock-and-roll event we will be bringing you exclusive insight into the cars and drivers who dare to shred the tread at GRiD.

Breaking cover today is Baggsy’s brand new Mazda RX-7. Make no mistake – there are no Wankels here though. This RX7 is powered by a custom 1JZ engine pushing out 600bhp, with a drivetrain to match.

Fresh from his recent demo and appearances at NASCAR and the Monster Energy Cup in the USA, Baggsy has now fully switched his focus onto GRiD.

“I said it would be all or nothing in South Africa this year, and I meant it,” explained Baggsy. “I’ve been lucky enough to build and drive some incredible cars this year, and having the RX-7 come out solely for Gymkhana GRiD in South Africa is awesome.

“I’ve always been a fan of the RX-7 and we wanted to do something a little bit different to the usual chassis choices people make. It’s a brand new car for us, so there’s a little bit of fine tuning to do, but I think it’s going to be quick for sure.”

Check out the mouth watering spec list to Baggsy’s brand new beast below; and don’t forget you can bookmark and check out the livestream here. If you are in-or-near Johannesburg on the 18th and 19th of November, why not grab yourself a ticket to check out the racing live and loud, here.
