The curtains closed for Boardmasters 2017 and it was nothing short of amazing. We brought the energy down to Fistral Beach this year on our Monster Energy bus, featuring some of our affiliated artists doing live surfboard art at the rig, a photo gallery of some of the very best surf shots of our athletes and much more!
Newquay Boardmasters is a crazy summer week of festivals, after party’s and action. In amongst the mayhem squeezes the WSL Boardmsters Quiksliver Pro surf event. Although sitting in mid-summer this year the weather dropped some winter style winds and rain but at least it kept the waves pretty fun for much of the event.
This is the biggest event on the UK scene and a chance for homegrown stars such as Britain’s finest Jobe Harriss to test his metal against an international field. That field included Luis Diaz from the Canary Islands and the Irish sensation Gearoid ‘G Man’ McDaid and this goofy foot trio lit up the event from start to finish, all getting their best results of the year - 5th for G and a 3rd place finish for Luis and Jobe who just got pipped by eventual winner Australian Lliam Mortenson in their semi.
Short story is the boys were ripping and they now carry that momentum and focus as the tour pushes on through Europe
We caught up with the boys before the surfing kicked off, check it out below >>
