In the five racing seasons since the FIA World Rallycross Championship turned truly global, it hadn’t yet torn up the dirt in the USA. That was until last weekend.
Hosted at a brand new, and purpose built circuit at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas -the series touched down for round 10 of 12 of this years championship. An intense weekend of door to door racing, punctuated by torrential storms and then blistering heat saw Johan Kristoffersson crowned World Champion for the second consecutive time.
Not just that, but Petter Solberg proved unequivocally that he was back in business once again; narrowly finishing second to team mate Johan by a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 0.6 seconds. If that wasn’t enough, Liam Doran and Ken Block were back in action in the ARX series running alongside the World RX action.
