CONGRATULATIONS TO 2018 MTB DH WORLD CUP CHAMPION AMAURY PIERRON

Aug 262018

The World Cup Champion was crowned in La Bresse, France, after a demanding few days of wet race conditions. After an incredible Downhill season winning consecutive back-to-back rounds at the infamous World cup at Fort William, Scotland followed by an impressive win in Leogang, Austria; Amaury then scooped a coveted triple with a win at Val Di Sole, Italy.

The young Frenchman is only 22 years old and originates from Auvergne in the South of France. He has put in a lot of effort in this year and credits his team for the overall title as well: “A lot of work from my part, a lot of work with the team. We worked together well and we did a lot of training camps this winter. I feel good, I’m happy with the bike, I’m stoked because all went well!”

At La Bresse this weekend, Amaury almost won his 4th victory this season, but a crash just before the finish felled his final efforts. A small frustration, that was quickly forgotten with his new title as World Champion!

The cheerful Frenchman couldn't have been more happy with the win surrounded by his home crowd: “I have fun all the time, but this weekend is just pressure-less. I had fun, all the French crowd was on fire. I’m really happy to be here.”

Amaury finished his incredible season at the top of the leaderboard, with UK's Danny Hart in second and Australian Troy Brosnan closing out the 2018 podium.

“It was a big goal, I didn’t expect this! After a season like this, I look forward to World Champs next weekend," Amaury remains focused on the next race coming up in a week in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
