Danny Hart Interview

Apr 192017

Danny Hart heads in to the 2017 UCI mountainbike World Cup season as the man to beat having stormed through the second half of the 2016 season and taken the win at World Champs. With the first round in Lourdes looming we took a second for a quick catch up with the man himself.

"I have been riding my DH bike a lot this off season, way more than normal, so I am really comfortable on my bike and ready to go race some World Cups"

Danny, you of course had a great season last year taking the world champs and the last 3 World Cup race wins. You’ve kicked off this season with a win in the first British Downhill Series race so it must be fair to say you’re feeling good on the bike right now?

After having such a good season in 2016, breaking through and winning 3 World Cups and the World Champs, I was mega excited to get back to racing this season, I have been riding my DH bike a lot this off season, way more than normal, so I am really comfortable on my bike and ready to go race some World Cups!

What changes or differences are there for you this year Vs the 2016 season?

Not a lot has changed really I because everything worked so well so I have pretty much tried to do the same again, a few things on my bike have changed but nothing to drastic.

You were recently in Scotland to launch the Fort William WC round, is this round more meaningful to you and are there any other rounds you’re looking forward to or feeling apprehensive about?

This round is pretty important to me as I have a lot of family and friend that make the pilgrimage up to the Scottish highlands to watch, and I really like that track... I am often nervous about that one because I have done well there a few times but not had that win yet.

There’s not much space at the top between the top 4 or 5 guys, what’s the vibe like in the pits, do you have laughs with the other teams or is it strictly business Thursday to Sunday?

It’s not too bad really, everyone gets on, I think because we are not racing head to head makes it much easier!
