Danny Schneider - places nobody else can ride

Dec 172018

There are some people in the world, who are constantly pushing boundaries, trying to discover something totally new, accomplish things, that have never been done before.

One of those people is Swiss custom bike legend Danny Schneider. In the new series "places nobody else can ride" he literally challenges the status quo of bike riding possibilities. We talked to Danny about the idea behind the series, the challenges behind it and future projects. Check out the first video edit and behind the scenes pics, shot at the stunningly beautiful Gelmersee in Switzerland.

"IT WAS AMAZING, THAT WE EVEN GOT THE PERMISSION TO DO THIS."

What is the idea behind „places nobody else can ride”?

It´s basically about places where nobody else is allowed or even able to ride a motorbike. The locations only become accessible through connections and friends.

During this first video shoot – what was the most challenging part?

Definitely the pendant bridge! At the starting point of the bridge the ropes had a good distance, giving me a margin of 5cm on each side, but naturally it gets narrower in the middle. I had to go pretty fast to go back up the bridge on the other side. But if you get caught in a rope at 40km/h that´s it. That was really sketchy, we didn´t measure it before and then it dawned on us…

When you saw the edit for the first time – what was your highlight?

The highlight was definitely the landscape. For me it´s one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland. It was amazing, that we even got the permission to do this. Being able to place my bike on the steepest cable car in Europe and drive my bike in a place where no motorbike has been before. Those have been my highlights.

"CHRISTMAS TIME IS GARAGE TIME!"

You want to continue the series with Monster Energy – can you let us know which places will be next, or do you keep it a secret?

Next on the map is the Grimseldam, one of the biggest dams in Switzerland. The only possibility to get the bike there is via ropeway. They just discovered the biggest crystal-grotto in Switzerland right there, we want to shoot there as well. In spring we want to do something spectacular during the big snow clearance and there´s plans for wall rides – loads of things to look forward to!

It´s Christmas time! How does it look like for Danny Schneider and his Family?

I need to finish a bike; So, Christmas time is garage time. I need to finish it until Verona. I just picked up the engine, but the frame won´t be delivered until end of next week. Everything needs to be quick then.

So, the next big project for 2019 will be Verona?

Definitely!
