Dirt Dialogue with Troy Brosnan

As a protégé of EWS World Champ Sam Hill, Australian MTB rider Troy Brosnan is one of the smoothest and fastest riders in the world of Mountain Biking. After finishing 3rd overall in the 2018 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup he is hungry for more success. We caught up with Troy to find out a little more about him.


How and when did you get into riding?

I started BMX racing when I was 4 years old and then got into mountain bikes from there at the age of 13 through friends.

What was your first bike?

My first ever bike was a 12" Dinosaur kids bike. My first MTB was a Specialized Hardrock.

When did you get into racing? How did that go?

I got into racing straight after getting on a MTB at 13y, I had so much fun but pretty sure I came last in Novice.

What’s been the worst crash you’ve had?

Leogang 2012, Ruptured my spleen and dislocated my shoulder at the same time.

What’s your favourite place to ride in the world?

Whistler, Canada

What has been your favourite or most memorable race?

Winning my first ever World Cup in Fort William, Scotland in 2014.

Give us a story from your wildest moment in mountain biking?

Probably riding in Whistler and a bear ran out in front of me on a fast bit of track!

Sam Hill

What's the gnarliest place you've ever ridden?

Champery, Switzerland

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of mountain biking or racing?

Going to the beach and hanging out with my puppie dogs.

What are your goals/dreams for the future?

To be first overall in the World Cup series and World Champion.
