FACTS ABOUT LOOSEFEST 2017 THAT WILL SHAKE YOU TO YOUR CORE

Jul 252017

LOOSEFEST brought together the craziest Freestyle Mountain Bike riders on the planet, to huck themselves over jumps, berms, hips and stepdowns that have only been conquered by a few brave souls.

Amongst the madmen this year, FMB riders Sam Reynolds and Andreu Lacondeguy and World Cup Downhill Champion legend Josh Bryceland was a new and exciting addition to the line-up this year. Taking it to the next level, dirt bike wildman Tyler Bereman came straight over from the US after taking Gold at X Games to shred with the boys and fellow FMX hero Edgar Torronteras also showed up to show the boys what can be done with an engine.

A crazy week for everyone involved, with amazing highs and a few scary moments, but all in all the best week of riding anyone can imagine! Here’s some facts to make you question the riders’ levels of insanity.

AIRTIME THAT WOULD CAUSE A PANIC ATTACK IN MOST HUMANS

2 seconds of air time might not sound crazy, but when you’re flying over one of the biggest dirt jumps ever constructed by man and machine, those 2 seconds can feel like a lifetime. The new hip at the bottom of the course was first hit by madman Tom Isted, who turned the session up and soon the trains were on hitting the full line-up.

CRASHES THAT DO BREAK HUMANS- BUT ONLY THE BRAVEST

On Friday evening, just as everyone was settling into the line, Remy Morton went way too turbo over the bottom hip and landed nose heavy to a terrible crash. He is stable and in good hands and all the boys are sending him the best wishes for a smooth recovery.

A COURSE THAT WOULD PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO MOST PEOPLE

The XXL course features a helter-skelter of oversized berms, moving into a line death-defying 75 foot doubles. If you make it through the doubles alive, you are now going over 70KPH, and heading towards the 90ft stepdown; one of largest obstacles ever done on a MTB. This step down must be executed perfectly- any errors would end in a crash of devastating proportions. After the step down, all you have left is the longest and fastest berm known to man… and then the 50ft tall Loosefest hip.

MX RIDERS ARE JUST AS FREAKED OUT BY THE LOOSEFEST COURSE

It took a couple of days for all the boys to feel comfortable on the death-defying course, but by Saturday the guys were going hard, with Tyler Bereman sending it super hard with his trademark style and ended the event with a huge 1 footed whip over the big MX jump at the third.
