And whether our restraint bolstered the Monster Energy team rider’s path to victory, we’ll never know, but…
WOW — that was something else. With a road to the final that included thumping barrels, historic aerials, powerful rail work and 10 point rides, Filipe served his home country a sampler platter of world-class surfing, and asked them how they liked it. Delicioso, they replied, and asked for more. So he gave it to them in the final, with a dominant performance over Australian Wade Carmichael, 17.10 to 8.0. The win puts him into second place on the Jeep Leaderboard, just 1,300 points behind Julian Wilson. Congrats, Filipe! Now, on to Indo!
